AI citation monitoring

TL;DR

PilotCite runs your buyers' questions against up to eight AI platforms on a schedule, stores every answer with its sources, and turns them into trends: citation rate, brand mentions, sentiment, and share of voice. Evidence included — every metric traces back to a real answer.

How it works

  1. Set up your brand — name, domain, competitors, and target market. PilotCite also detects brand aliases so "PilotCite", "pilotcite.com", and close variants all count as you.
  2. Choose prompts — pick from discovered, high-intent suggestions for your category or add your own. Prompts carry a language and target region, so a Taiwanese brand can monitor zh-TW questions where its buyers actually ask them.
  3. Monitor on schedule — runs execute automatically per your plan's cadence and platform coverage, with retries and fallbacks handling platform flakiness behind the scenes.
  4. Read the trends — dashboards show per-platform and per-prompt citation rate, mention rate, sentiment, and share of voice over time, with the full answer text and cited URLs one click away.

What makes the data trustworthy

Rates, not anecdotes: every number has a denominator of scheduled runs (prompt monitoring). Mentions are matched against your configured brand and aliases — not naive string search — and citations match your actual domain. When a data point is backfilled or estimated, it is labeled as such rather than passed off as measured.

Key facts
  • Up to 8 platforms: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude, Copilot, Grok.
  • Every monitored answer is stored in full, with its cited sources.
  • Prompts support per-language and per-region targeting.
  • CSV export for the answers and metrics your reporting needs.

Frequently asked questions

How often do monitoring runs execute?

Cadence depends on plan — higher tiers monitor more frequently, up to daily. You can also trigger runs manually.

Can I monitor prompts in languages other than English?

Yes. Prompts carry a locale and target region, and platform queries respect them where the platform supports it.

What exactly counts as a citation?

An answer linking your domain as a source. Brand mentions (named without a link) are tracked separately — the two diagnose different problems.
